Due to cold, wet weather on Monday, March 6th, we made the decision to postpone our first docent training session of the Spring season.

Our Spring Lesson Docent Trainings will now be held on the following Mondays in March and April, from 9:00 am - Noon at Soil&Water Garden in Heritage Park (771 N. Rengstorff Avenue in Mountain View):

March 20th:
  • Garden of Senses (Kindergarten)
  • Soil Explorations (Kindergarten)
  • Garden Tea (Gr. 1)
  • Light & Shadows (Gr. 1)
March 27th:
  • From Seed to Pretzel #2 and #3 (Gr. 2)
  • Flower Power (Gr. 2)
  • Three Sisters Spring Planting (Gr. 3)
April 17th:
  • Life Cycle of a Tomato #3 (Gr. 3)
  • Super Structures (Gr. 4)
  • Colonial Uses of Plants (Gr. 5)
Our Spring lessons begin in the classrooms on March 28th.  Please spread the word to anyone in your network who might be interested in becoming a Living Classroom docent, or just wants to learn more about our program!

From time to time, we offer our volunteer and staff docents special events or field trips to enrich their knowledge and provide experiences that relate to our mission of environmental literacy.

Our next event will be a tour of the Martial Cottle Park Demonstration Gardens in San Jose from 10:00-Noon on Monday, April 3rd.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Susan by Friday, March 31st.  There will be a carpool leaving at 9:15 am from the Los Altos School District Living Classroom office (located adjacent to Covington Elemenary School).  Please notify me ahead of time if you plan on joining the carpool.  If there is enough interest from Mountain View docents, we can also organize a carpool from Theuerkauf School.  For those driving themselves, a parking fee of $6 per vehicle may apply.
