Introducing Living Classroom's New Palo Alto Unified School District Program

img Fairmeadow garden work dayLiving Classroom starts operations at the Palo Alto Unified School District this August with new program staff, a new office, and new edible and native habitat gardens.

We welcome Shawn Shahin and Lorraine Kostka as our new Program Manager and Program Assistant. Our garden manager, Patti Berryhill, will expand her role to maintain gardens in both the Mountain View Whisman and Palo Alto School Districts.

Living Classroom will give lessons to kindergarten through 3rd grade children in five Palo Alto schools, including Duveneck, Hays, El Carmelo, Barron Park, and Fairmeadow Schools.

We have installed beautiful new edible and native habitat gardens and will install three more in the fall. Every participating school will have an edible and native habitat garden for our lessons, which will also benefit the larger school community.

The new staff will recruit new docents at the beginning of the school year and commence lesson training in September.
