  • Soil Chemistry: Students test school garden soil for potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus content as well as pH. They also explore the major “ingredients” of soil: clay, silt, sand, organic material, water, air, living things, and minerals. Students participate in a demonstration of the filtration properties of soil based on the cation exchange capacity of soil, and make conclusions about whether the soils are relatively positively or negatively charged.
